General Questions
What time should I arrive on race day?
We encourage you to arrive early so you have plenty of time to park and get to the start line.
What are the event start dates and times?
Old Point National Bank Monster Mile begins at 7:00pm at 24th Street Park on Friday.
Anthem Wicked 10K begins at 8:00 am on Saturday at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
Old Point National Bank Mini Monster 1K begins at 10:30 am on 20th and Atlantic Ave on Saturday.
Where can we park for the races?
The Anthem Wicked 10K starts at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on 19th Street and ends on the Boardwalk near 20th Street. There will be limited parking at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. We recommend parking at the 19th Street and Pacific lots which are .8 miles to the start. We encourage you to arrive early since parking can fill up quickly. We will provide a parking map closer to the event.
What can I do before and after the race?

What will the weather be like in Virginia Beach during October?
The average high is in the mid 70s while the average low is in the mid 50s. This race is rain or shine!
Packet Pickup
Can I have my race packet mailed?
For a fee of $30, we can mail you your packet. To learn more about packet mailing, click here.
Where can I pick up my race packet?

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
If you are unable to pick up your own race packet, you may authorize another person to pick up your packet/bib number. The authorized individual MUST have their own photo ID, a signed and printed authorization form, and a copy of the participant’s photo ID. The signed authorization form MUST be printed, we will NOT accept any authorization via phone, text message, or any other electronic device. The copy of the photo ID may be via text, email, or photo copy. If the authorized individual is missing any of these items, we will not release the packet/bib number, NO EXCEPTIONS. Race Information
Are hydration packs allowed on the course?
Yes. We allow hydration packs on our course.
Are there porta-potties on the course?
Porta-potties are located near the start line, at every water stop on the course, and at our post-race party.
Will spectators be allowed to view the finish?
Yes, there will be plenty of space to view your runner finish in front of the finish line. We also invite you to stay and enjoy the post-race party.
Where will my results be posted? Do you have runner tracking?
Results can be found HERE after the race.
We will provide live Athlete Updates for the 10K, Monster Mile, and Mini Monster 1K. You can sign up via the website once the first round of Bib Numbers are assigned (mid-October).
On race day we provide the following updates:
10K: 5K and Finish
Monster Mile: Finish
Mini Monster 1K: Finish
Will there be an awards ceremony? What are the award categories?
There will not be an awards ceremony for the race. Awards for the Costume Contest will be given out at a ceremony at 11am. All race awards will be mailed out after results are confirmed. Race award categories are listed below:
- Top three overall (male/female)
- Top three masters overall (male/female)
- Top three finishers in each age group (male/female)
- Ages 10 and under
- Ages 11-14
- Ages 15-19
- Ages 20-24
- Ages 25-29
- Ages 30-34
- Ages 35-39
- Ages 40-44
- Ages 45-49
- Ages 50-54
- Ages 55-59
- Ages 60-64
- Ages 65-69
- Ages 70-74
- Ages 75-79
- Ages 80+
* There are no awards for the Monster Mile.
* The top 3 overall and top 3 masters (40+) will be pulled from their age groups and automatically be placed in their respective category. (No double awards)
Do I need my ID for the post-race party?
You will need a wrist bracelet provided by the Anthem Wicked 10K in order to drink beer at the post-race party. You can get this bracelet by showing us your ID at the expo (special ID Check booth) or at the post-race party. All runners 21 and over receive a limited number of beers with their entries. Additional beer for participants or spectators can be purchased at the party. All beer sales proceeds go to the Noblemen.
Is there a dry bag check?
Friday Night | Monster Mile
There is no dry bag check for the Monster Mile on Friday night.
Saturday | Wicked 10K
Yes, there will be dry bag check located at the Virginia Beach Convention Center and bags can be dropped off between 6:30am and 7:45am. Bags must be picked up immediately following your race at the end of the finish line chute on the boardwalk. The Dry-Bag area will close at 11:00am. Each runner will receive a clear plastic bag at packet pick-up that MUST be used for your gear check bag. We WILL NOT accept any other bags due to security reasons. All bibs will include a gear check tag. Remove the tag from your bib and tie it to the bag before you turn it into gear check on race morning. J&A Racing is not responsible for any lost items, so please do not leave valuables in your dry bag.
Will there be hydration and energy gels on the course?
No, there will not be a sports drinks or energy gels on the course. There will be water stops for the Anthem Wicked 10K.
Are headphones (iPods, mp3 players, etc) allowed during the race?
Headphones are allowed. Please be aware of your surroundings and other runners.
Are baby joggers, strollers, or pets allowed during the race?
Baby Joggers/Strollers
Yes, baby joggers and strollers are allowed with the exception of the Monster Mile Elite Wave. You must include your child’s information during your registration (there is no additional charge). If you did not include your child during registration, please visit the Solutions Booth at the Sports & Fitness Expo to add your child.
Baby joggers and strollers are not allowed in corrals 1-2, so you must be in corral 3 or higher and seed yourself at the back of your assigned corral. It is your responsibility to make sure your baby jogger/stroller does not impede other runners, and you must take extra precaution to ensure your safety, your child’s safety, and the safety of the runners around you. We reserve the right to pull any participant from the race who is endangering other runners or themselves.
Strollers are not permitted in the Monster Mile Elite Wave.
Pets
Pets are not permitted in any of the J&A Racing events.
Are there time limits?
Yes, we will have plenty of participants that will walk. If you plan to walk the race, we do require that you line up at the back of the race corral so as not to impede runners.
Participants must complete the Anthem Wicked 10K within 2 hours (maintaining a 20 min per mile pace).
What are the age limits for each race?
There are no age limits. We encourage participants of all ages to join us.
Costume Contest
How will I be judged?
Judges will be looking for originality, authenticity, overall theme, and craftsmanship.
What are the costume rules?
- You must run/walk in your costume the entire race to be eligible for prizes
- Groups and pairs must come to the judging table together to be judged
- If you are a group or a pair, you must pick a team captain and a team name. We will use this name and the team captain’s race number for judging
- You must have a race number visible to be eligible for the contest and keep your race number on for winner announcements
- You must have been a registered participant and run the race to be eligible for the costume contest
- You must be present at the awards ceremony to win a prize
When and where do I get judged?
We will judge costumes in two areas on race day. Before the race at the Virginia Beach Convention Center from 6:30am – 7:30am and on the beach in the post-race party area from 8:45am-10:45am. Awards will take place at 11:00am.
What are the prize divisions?
We will be judging for the top three in the following divisions:
- Best Individual Costume – costumes of only one person
- Best Pumpkin Pair – costumes with two people participating
- Best Group Costume – 3 or more form a group
- Best Kid’s Costume – Group, pair or individual. All must be 12 and under and run the event.
